There is Electricity!

It has been 4 months since I was last up here - blame it on a unhealthy work-life balance (I'm working on it... don't yell). I am here for a couple weeks this time, and am SO glad I came up when I did. The fall colors are absolutely exploding.

While here, I plan to do some in person research on general contractors as I have 90% settled on using Morton for the shell of my new home. I am also planning to do some exploring of other parks and nature areas around me. Yesterday I went to Cathedral Pines. It was absolutely beautiful, and yes, I did lay on the forest floor to watch the trees in the wind and to take some breaths myself.

The other perk is that I now have electricity to the property. This means that I have heat, I have warm water, I have internet and use of my computer without needing to utilize a generator. The generator has been a lifesaver to say the least.

It took 300' of RV extension cord to get from my power hub by where the house will be down to where the camper is. I have an additional 30' to use once the camper gets moved to its spot so I can put the cord further into the woods to be out of the road.

The mice in WI are resilient, to say the least. When I left the last time in June, I used 3 different methods to repel mice in hopes that one of them worked. I used a Rodent Repellent; homemade sachets of clove, pepper, cinnamon, etc.; and Bounce dryer sheets. The mice made a nest amidst all those things - all in one place. I wonder if they thought Christmas had come early with all the beautiful smells? Will research other methods to utilize during the winter months. I will also be taking anything consumable home with me and work on putting plates, silverware, and other housewares into bins that are inaccessible to mice.

With that, enjoy a beautiful video of my drive into where my land is. This is just off the main road and this gravel road is maintained by Fern - there is public access to the Popple River towards the end of the road. At the end of the road (not shown in video) there is a gate that leads further back into the 80+ acres that have been split into lots, one of which is mine to build my new home on!

There were also Northern Lights last night
